In 2012 Thomas von Nordheim published his first book on “Vintage Couture Tailoring” to great international acclaim.

It is the only book on the market which explains step by step how a traditional tailored jacket is built from scratch, using loose interfacings and vintage construction techniques.

The novice tailor or couture enthusiast will learn to appreciate the skill and technical perfection and dozens of hours of work needed to manufacture a tailored garment.

Feedback from the readers

“I have a LOT of tailoring books, both new and old. This is far and away the best book I’ve seen on women’s tailoring, and quite possibly on all tailoring, full stop.”

“It is the most detailed example of tailoring a jacket I have ever seen! Most couture books have bits and pieces and never seem to have the complete information  . . . this book really is the best!”

“I feel that the author should write more books to preserve the “lost art” of Tailoring. This man should be considered England’s “national treasure” and I bow to him in gratitude . . .  Hope to see more fabulous books on the subject and in the same manner.”

“All the information . . . is without the fluff of personal anecdotes, which is exactly what I want in a reference book . . . it even includes photographs of what steps should not look like.”

“The book is generously illustrated with clear photographs . . . I am a complete novice in Tailoring and when I embark on my first project it looks like . . . this book will answer my questions, even those I didn’t know to ask”

“This book has beome a favourite of mine in the short time I owned it. My sewing, especially hand sewing skills, have improved exponentially.”

“I have a library of books on Tailoring and clothing construction. This is one of the best, well written and beautifully photographed. The step by step photographs and instructions are excellent.”

“I am really delighted with this book . . . the author does not attempt to simplify . . . the process, thus affording the tailoring enthusiast a mean to acquire the skill necessary to produce a professionally tailored jacket, not just a simulacrum. The information provided in this book is clear, well organised and minutely detailed”

“I have many books on tailoring and couture sewing. . . if I was only able to keep one, this would be the one I would save!”

“It is such a beautiful book . . . the information contained is just perfect. This book is written by a master of his craft. I shall say no more.”
